A Heart of Homemaking
Hello There. I’m Shayla. I’m a wife, homemaker, and homeschool mom of 4. You can usually find me scoring deals at the thrift store, sipping black coffee while cozied up with a good book, reheating my coffee because I got distracted and now it’s cold, or baking sourdough.
My heart’s desire hasn’t always been geared towards homemaking. I was the one known for bringing packaged rolls to every family dinner (not that there’s ANYTHING wrong with that, I just didn’t care to put effort into anything). I also made boxed Mac and cheese every chance I got. I didn’t know what it meant to submit to my husband. Or to selflessly put my children first. I had no intent to homeschool. And I had no idea how to properly study God’s word. I was constantly putting down anyone who did put effort into life, and bragging about how cool and chill I was for not.
What a silly goose I was.
Then the lord grabbed my heart.
I was graciously saved out of the charismatic movement 4 years ago. When the Lord opened my eyes and we left the church we were attending I struggled to find solid resources and teachings. I didn’t know what was true or what was false. It has definitely been a journey. The Lord was gracious to give me a husband who led me so well and answered my questions and pointed me in right directions. And I’m so very grateful for him. Since then, I have found wonderful theologically sound teachers, books, music, and resources that I want to share with you. Along with a sincere and new found love for the Lord and His word. I have learned what it means to submit to my husband and to take care of the home. I have also learned the importance of sound doctrine and the unfortunate lack of it plaguing many women’s studies and churches. It is my desire to provide moms and other women with resources and encouragement to help them live out their God-given jobs to the best of their ability. Whether it be posts about theology or my favorite homeschool resources, I hope you will find this blog useful and that it will aid you in your journey with Christ.
Soli deo Gloria!
